Raymond L. Welch passed away at his home surrounded by his family in Aztec on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.
Ray was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Hutchinson, Kan. He grew up in Texas and attended Texas A&M. Ray served in the United States Army during WWII. He was an engineer at Cabot Corp, where he designed new drilling processes. Ray is survived by his best friend, Virginia Whitney of Aztec; two daughters, Rolle Jean Kayaly of Cairo, Egypt, and Cynthia Sabine of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 123 E. Chaco in Aztec with Pastor Jeff Symonds officiating. Interment will follow in Aztec Cemetery, with full military honor provided by VFW Post 614 of Aztec.
