Robert Louis McClure, 70, of Tsah bii kin, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Fairfax, Okla., to Olce Frank McClure and Marceil Helen Corbett. He was born to the Washitah band of Osage and the Chickasaw tribes.
Robert graduated from Phillips High School, class of 1963, in Borger, Texas. He was employed with Peabody Coal Company for 36 years in Kayenta, Ariz. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and United Mine Workers of America.
His hobbies were interior decorating, yard sales, running a concession stand on the reservation, flea markets, collecting Native American art and traveling with the grandkids.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McClure; sons, Robert McClure Jr., Aaron McClure and David McClure; step-sons, Shawn Hunt, Ryan Hunt and LeVaughn Hunt; daughters, Darlene Warren, Tammy Warren, Angela Villa; step-daughters, Aurdith Hunt and Twila Hunt; sisters, Pamela Lambert and Alimeda Adams; 29 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington, with Pastor Steve Carrington and Josh Maloney officiating.
Inurnment will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
A reception will follow at Jim Williams' residence in Kirtland.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Peabody Coal Mine.
