Andrew Lee Cudei Pope, 18, of Aztec, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, in Farmington. He was born on July 18, 1994, in Farmington, to Byron A. Pope and Valentina "Tina" Humphrey. He was born to Near the Watersedge People-Ta ba'aha.
Andrew was going to be a senior this year at Aztec High School.
He was a brother, son, grandson, nephew and friend.
He was active in track and excelled in football. The football field was his second home.
Andrew was a people person and had not met a stranger. He had a contagious smile and made everyone laugh.
He grew up in the church and was not afraid to take a stand for his Lord and Savior.
Andrew was loved by all and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John C. Begay and paternal grandfather, Morris L. Pope.
Andrew is survived by his parents; his sister, Ashley Nizhoni Rose Pope; his grandparents, Arlene O. Begay and Patricia M. Pope.
A visitation will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Cope Memorial Chapel, in Aztec.
A funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Aztec Tiger Football Field.
Burial will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Adam Lucero, Shane Priestly, Kyle Denby, Joey Dotson, Herschel Curley, Steven Bekis, Bill Murray and Elijah Etsitty.
Memorials may be made to Andrew Pope at Wells Fargo Bank.
