Anna Belle Lee Crist Obituary
Anna Belle Lee Crist was born in Huntoon, Texas, Aug. 19, 1927, to Ruth and Lee Crist. She was eighth of 12 children.
Anna is survived by her brother, Jesse Crist, and her sister, Mary Hope Huguley. The family traveled the Southwest following her Dad's passion for greyhound dogs. He was a trainer/owner of racing greyhounds. As a young woman, Anna worked in the war effort plant in southern California. Soon after she left California, Anna moved to Farmington. She was working at the corner chile parlor when a handsome brown-eyed truck driver swept her off her feet. Marvin Simmons and Anna Belle Crist were married on June 22, 1946. The following year, they had their only daughter, Linda Simmons Erwin, and on July 24, 1948, their only son, Marvin Dennis Simmons, was born.
They made Farmington their home until relocating to southern California in 1963. Eight years later, off to Arizona they went. Loving the desert climate, they made Arizona their new home. They eventually started their own trucking company, M & D Terminals. Anna Belle continued to live in Arizona after the passing of Marvin in 1988. She spent a few years in California with her daughter, Linda, and then returned to Arizona in 2013.
Anna Belle passed on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be missed.
A funeral service was 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Phoenix Memorial in Phoenix, Ariz.
Arrangements were with Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027, 623-434-7000.
