Colette Teresa Begay, 23, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013. She was born Aug. 6, 1989, in Shiprock.
She was born to the Ashii hí Clan (Salt) and born for the Naashgalí Dine'è Clan (Mescalero Apache).
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arlene and David Charles of Fruitland, and her paternal grandfather, Clarence Begay Sr. of Rock Point, Ariz.
Colette is survived by her parents, Nola Mae Charles and Nathaniel Tso Begay; her paternal grandmother, Evangeline Begay of Rock Point, Ariz.; one beautiful daughter, Kelsey Teresa Homer; brothers, Nicholas Begay and JD Morales; sisters, Nicole Begay, Arlene Morales and Emma Morales; nephew Tyrell Gustina; niece Jasmine Gustina and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Colette will forever remain in our memories and our hearts.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the Cope Memorial Chapel of Kirtland, 458 Road 6100, with The Rev. Michael Charles presiding. Interment will follow at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nathaniel T. Begay, Clarence T. Begay, Marcelles Montecinos, Keenan Homer, Nicholas T. Begay and Matthew Charles. Honorary pallbearers are Nola Charles, Nicole Begay, Marita Begaye, Floyd T. Begay, Mariam Montecinos and Marcos Montecinos.
