D.C. ""Denny"" Knutson, 91, of Bloomfield, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in Bloomfield. He was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Warren, Minn., to Carl and Viola (Stromberg) Knutson.
Denny served in the Army Air Force as a flight instructor during World War II. He married Margaret ""Marge"" Freiberger in Saint Paul, Minn., on Aug. 24, 1946, and they celebrated their 66th anniversary in August.
They moved to New Mexico in 1948. They owned several restaurants. Denny was a bookkeeper for M.J. Florence and Claude Carroll Drilling locally.
He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service after 20 years of service. Over the last 63 years, Denny and Marge farmed 75 acres in Bloomfield; raised fishing worms to sell; co-owned Fashion Belle dress shop; owned Tandy Leather and Gift Shop; and owned The Ceramic Hideaway.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Doris Rhodes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marge Knutson, of Bloomfield; sons, Jerry Knutson (Denisa), of Bloomfield, and Kris Knutson (Barbara), of Columbia, Mo.; daughter, Carol Tripp (Dan), of Victor, Mont. and six grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sycamore in Bloomfield, with Pastor Craig Montroy officiating.
