Don Shipley, 55, of Lindrith, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. He was born April 17, 1958, in Riverton, Wyo., to John C. and Florence (Minard) Shipley. Don's family moved to Lindrith from Wyoming when he was a toddler, and he grew up in the small ranching/oilfield community. He was a bull and bareback bronc rider in his younger years. He was a former president of the LRA, a community organization that sponsored events geared to promote rodeo and the western way of life and that sponsors scholarship programs for local youth. He was an artist when it came to running heavy equipment, and he loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Don was preceded in death by his father, John, and son, Derrick Shipley.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Gerri Kay (Nelson), of the family home; daughter, Katrina (Cauy) Davis, of Lindrith; mother, Florence Shipley of Kirtland; sister, Debbie (Craig) Homer, of Kirtland; grandsons, Coltan and Conner Davis, of Lindrith; sister-in-law, Michelle (Frank) Jaramillo of Lindrith; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones.
A memorial service in Don's honor will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Lindrith School Gymnasium, in Lindrith.
