Ethel T. Thompson, 89, of Hogback, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Farmington. She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Tohatchi, to Bennie and Glen Tohe. She was born to the Bitterwater Clan and born for the Black Streak Clan.
Ethel was retired from Gallup McKinley County School District. She was a rancher and loved riding horses. She enjoyed weaving and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Thompson; daughter, Rose Marie Thompson; her parents, Bennie and Glen Tohe; and her brother, Benson Tohe.
She is survived by her son, Donald Thompson; daughters, Barbara Harris, Henrietta Thompson, Marita Thompson, Winifred Devore and Kathleen Thompson; and 46 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, 1830 Barbara Ave., with Pastor Andy Fine officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Tohatchi.
The reception will be at Coyote Canyon Chapter House.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Devore, Micah Devore, Adrian Freeland, Everson Allen, Thurman Allen and David Ryan Thompson.
