Evelyn H. Manuelito, 91, of Newcomb, passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 in Farmington. She was born Oct. 13, 1921 in Kinlichee, Ariz., to Charlie Yazzie and Anna Mae Hubbard. She was born to To'baahi and born for Dibe' lizhini.
Evelyn grew up in the high desert canyons of Kinlichee, Ariz. She attended Ganado Mission School through 8th grade. She was married to the late Harry D. Manuelito Sr. and had 13 children. She worked at Kinlichee and Nazlini schools before she moved to Newcomb, in 1969. There she worked at Newcomb School, but spent most of her life as a loving mother and housewife.
Evelyn loved to spend time at her cabin in the mountains, attend church, care for her animals, and be around family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, full of love and laughter. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She left behind so many who loved and cherished her, but she lived a full and healthy life. She was our teacher and friend, and now she is our angel in Heaven.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Gene Manuelito Sr., Harry D. Manuelito Jr., Raymond Manuelito and Jerome Manuelito; daughters, Annie Rose Curley, Marilyn Manuelito, Carole Manuelito, Marjorie R. Irwin, Charlene R. Manuelito and Deborah Manuelito; 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; two sons, Sterling and Michael and her daughter, Gloria.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Assembly of God Church in Newcomb, with Pastor Duane Hammond officiating.
Pallbearers are Elmer Curley, Gene Manuelito Jr., Leland Manuelito, Shawn Manuelito, Delane Manuelito, Randy Manuelito, Ardaniel H. Bekise, Blaine R. Irwin and Chadwick Manuelito.
Honorary pallbearers are Harry Manuelito Jr., Gene Manuelito Sr., Raymond Manuelito and Jerome Manuelito.
