Garnett Rose Scott Bernally, 90, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, descended into heaven Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned and son, Elroy.
Garnett is survived by six children, Gary Bernally, Hogback, Bernadette Bernally, Window Rock, Ariz., Lauren Bernally, Window Rock, Ariz., Lonnie Bernally (Connie) Hogback, Karen Bernally, Hogback and Karla Rickert (Mark), Rio Rancho. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Garnett worked as a registered nurse for more than 35 years with the Indian Health Services. She retired in 1984 from the Shiprock IHS Hospital. Garnett was an avid sports fan and enjoyed a variety of sports. She also enjoyed movies, reading, cooking, traveling and attending church.
Garnett was a devout Christian and always kept involved in all church activities. She believed in God and everlasting life. Her religion was a very important part of her life.
Garnett attended Albuquerque Indian School and the Ganado (Arizona) Mission Nursing program which led to her nursing career. Her career began in Oneida, Wisc., then Cook County Medical Center (Chicago, Ill.), Wichita, Kan., Winslow, Ariz. and finally, Shiprock, Garnett was a hard worker and passionate about her responsibilities.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Shiprock.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Farmington. The Rev. Paul West and the Rev. Fred Yazzie will be officiating.
A reception will follow at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship hall.
Pallbearers will be Gary Bernally, Lonnie Bernally, Maylin Bernally, Aaron Ventillie, Nathan Bernally and Hershel Natani Begay.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, Box 657, Shiprock.
The family express their heart felt gratitude to the Northern Navajo Medical Center Staff, Dr. Heather Kovich, San Juan Regional Medical Center staff and the Bloomfield Nursing Home and Rehabilitation center staff for the care they extended to our loved one.
