Johnny "John" H. Fraker
July 29, 1948-April 29, 2013
Johnny "John" H. Fraker passed peacefully from this life into eternity after battling COPD for several years.
He was born in San Angelo, Texas to Phillip and Leona Fraker. He was a 1966 graduate of Aztec High School, served four years in the Air Force and a dedicated and proud Vietnam veteran for two tours.
Johnny loved the outdoors, treasure hunting, gold prospecting and camping. He was a giver, expecting nothing in return, helping people in need that least expected it. Those who knew him well called him "Grumpy," because he called himself "Grumpy," he did have his moments. His friends knew they were friends and his family knew they were family.
Johnny was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad (he would never call them mother and father) and niece Dawn (Fraker) Steele.
He is survived by his son, Billy of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Skip and his wife, Linda of Farmington; nephews, Dustin Fraker and his wife, Katie of Farmington and Josh Wilmot and niece, Heather (Fraker) Bartram and her husband, Chris of Surprise, Ariz.
His close friends watched after him along with his family in his latter days and we are proud and grateful for their love and concern. Johnny was blessed by the friendship of Kendall Smith and a special relationship with nephew Dustin.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Cross Roads Community Church. Casual dress is appropriate.
In lieu of flowers, you may send a contribution to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Johnny's care is entrusted to Alternative Choice, 804 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, 505-325-9611.
