Nolan Berry, 91, of Cortez, Colo., and formerly of Boulder City, Nev., passed away on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Vista Grande Inn in Cortez. He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Mesa, Ariz. to Samuel Preston and Ivy Fern (McHenry) Berry.
Nolan, a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, was a general contractor and worked in southern Nevada for many years before relocating to New Mexico and finally to Colorado. He also taught drafting in the Shiprock New Mexico School District for several years.
Nolan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert Dale Berry, Lee Wesley Berry and Samuel Berry; and son, S. Steven Berry.
Nolan is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bettye Berry of Cortez; sons, Jerald Berry and wife, Cora, Mike Berry, and Thomas P. Berry, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-daughters, Linda Henry and her husband, Jim, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Donna Carducci of Henderson, Nev.; 23 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Nolan Berry will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, at Ertel Funeral Home, 42 N. Market St. in Cortez, Colo.
