Ola L. (Estep) Haefker (1915 - 2013)

Ola L. Estep Haefker, 98, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. She was born in Canadian County, Okla., near El Reno, on Nov. 28, 1915.
She grew up and graduated high school in Elk City, Kan., and received a teaching certificate from Pittsburg Teachers College. She met Daniel W. Haefker while teaching near Coffeyville, Kan., and they married, May 22, 1937. Ola was very musically and artistically talented. She played both piano and organ for the enjoyment of herself
and her family. She also played for church services at Sunnyside Country School in Kansas when she was a young woman. As an artist, she worked in oils, pastels
and watercolors, and her pieces have been collected across the United States by individuals and businesses alike. She has won numerous awards in multiple states,
and she taught art classes for several years. Many of her students have received awards for their work as well. Ola loved painting and spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She also loved growing her beautiful flower gardens. She was preceded in death by Daniel, her husband of 39 years; brother, Carl A. Estep Jr. (N.M.);
three daughters, Ruthann Taylor (Minn.), Janis Haefker (N.M.) and Mary Katherine Walker (Wis.); one grandson; and one great-grandson. Ola is survived by one daughter, Linda Maedgen (Utah); seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St., with the Rev. Gary Thur conducting.
Interment to follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Jake Maedgen, Spenser Maedgen, Ken Robinson and Travis Robinson.
