Priscilla Louise Sandlin
Aug. 5, 1923 - Aug. 8, 2012
Priscilla Louise Sandlin, 89, of Farmington, passed away early on Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, 2012, after a gallant battle with cancer.
Priscilla graduated from Dumas, Texas, High School.
Always filled with a sense of adventure, she married J.B. Sandlin, and began her married life in an oil field in Venezuela.
Several years later, Priscilla and Sandy were on their way to visit relatives in Nevada when their car broke down in Farmington. The shop where they had the car repaired happened to be for sale, so the Sandlins bought it, and resided in Farmington for the rest of their lives.
A woman of great faith, Priscilla was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a deacon and an elder.
Priscilla volunteered her boundless energy at Farmington's Connelly House. For 40 years, she was an enthusiastic member of the informally organized ""Breakfast Bunch."" She was an avid bridge player who played to win, and spent many years in the Philanthropic Education Organization, P.E.O., which provides scholarships for women.
Priscilla's love of adventure never diminished, and she traveled extensively during her later years.
She is survived by a nephew, Michael Smith and wife, Vicky; several cousins and many loving friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home.
Burial will be 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, followed by a celebration of Priscilla's life at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin, in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Billy Everett, Michael Smith, Robert Geroge, Howard McClurkin, Frank Patterson and Roger Sheak.
Memorial donations honoring Priscilla may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Connelly House (providing rooms for families with a loved one in San Juan Regional Medical Center), PO Box 110, Farmington, NM 87499.
Arrangements are with BREWER, LEE AND LARKIN FUNERAL HOME, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
