Tammy Wilkins, of Bloomfield, passed from this life on March 1, 2014, following a long struggle with multiple sclerosis.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born in Gallup, Aug. 5, 1958. In 1975, she married Bruce Wilkins and they had one son, Gerrick. She worked in hotel management in the Farmington area and served on the Chamber of Commerce. In 1998, she married Don Wallace.
Tammy had a zest for life and a sweet smile for everyone. She enjoyed athletics especially waterskiing and basketball. She was a talented artist and, like many in her family, she was a rock hound and loved to spend hours searching for unique specimens.
When her multiple sclerosis confined her to a wheelchair, Tammy spent time advocating for multiple sclerosis awareness and for animals. Tammy's compassionate and kind heart was seen very clearly in her love of animals, particularly cats. And, despite the pain she endured in her later years, she never complained and was a beacon of encouragement for others. Her friends and loved ones will always remember her beautiful smile and tender heart.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, at New Haven Baptist Temple, 2016 E. 16th St. in Farmington.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Don Wallace; son, Gerrick (Carol) Wilkins;
granddaughter, Hanna Wilkins; mother, Pat Clark; father, Ralph Haynie; brother, Greg Clark; and many other beloved family members.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Hazel Townsend and
Dean and Margaret Haynie; uncle, Don Townsend; and aunt, Dorothy Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Tammy Wilkins to Gideons International at gideons.org/sendtheword or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org.
