Albert Bennett, 80, of Shiprock, passed from this life on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, in Shiprock. He was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Shiprock.
He is survived by daughter, Alberta (Jones Lee) Hobson; sons, Ronnie A. Bennett and Patrick Bennett; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marian W. Bennett; parents, Alfred Bennet Sr. and Vin'nih Visbah; and son, Albert Bennett Jr.,
Albert graduated from high school in Tahlequah, Okla. He retired after more than 35 years of service with Northern Navajo Medical Indian Health Service in Shiprock and also retired with the Housekeeping Department as a Motor Vehicle Operator. Before working for NNMC IHS, he had worked for Kerr-McGee, BIA, and El Navajo Garage as a mechanic. He was active with Song and Dance, Toh-Nih Singers.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., today at Desert View Funeral Home Chapel in Shiprock.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Shiprock, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Shiprock Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kirbie D. Bennett, Ronnie Bennett, Nathan Yazzie and Arlin Bekis.
Honorary Pallbearers are Delvin Hobson, Ronnie Bennett, Patrick Bennett, Alberta B. Hobson, Andrea D. Hobson, Andrew Hobson, Wilson Phillips, Hugh Cleveland Jr., Allen Brady, Simpson Bekis Jr., Johnnie Bennett, the PCM Nursing Team; Dana, Tammy, Bob, John, Virginia; all grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Jimmie Pete, Johnnie Pete, Melvin Jim, Tommie Yazzie, James Tsosie, Frank Saltwater and Ray Hasting and former co-workers at Northern Navajo Medical Center.
