Lance Monroe Payne, 57, of Kirtland, went home to his heavenly Father on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012. He was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Verden.
Lance was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He served in the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam War.
He met his wife, Barbara and her four kids, ages, 1, 2, 3 and 6 and he took care of them, like they were his own. Together they had three more children. Lance was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
Lance was a very loving man and would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Betty Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara; his children, Wendell (Josie) Cockrell, Willie (Kim) Cockrell, Toby (Natane) Cockrell, Tim Cockrell, Heather (Dave) Baker, Dudley Payne, Holly (Kurtis) Sletta, Danny Payne and Jessica Payne and 21 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 479 County Road 6100 in Kirtland.
Pallbearers are Wendell Cockrell, Willie Cockrell, Toby Cockrell, Tim Cockrell, Dudley Payne, Dave Baker, Kurtis Sletta, Leanord Biemer.
Honorary pallbearers are Josiah Sletta, Scott Palmer, Russ Eliot, Sheldon Pickering, Scott Payne and Steve Stout.
