Zora Lee Johnston Obituary
Zora Lee Johnston, 81, was born in Haviland, Kan. in 1931. She and her family lived and dry land farmed in Eastern Colorado.
She attended Granada High School where she met her future husband, George. They were married in 1950.
Before starting a family she traveled with George on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, through the southern part of the United States, while George was in the Air Force.
They had two children, Curtis and Debi. They lived in Grand Junction, Colo. Where she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone.
Later they moved to Durango, Colo. where she and George owned Johnston Frozen Foods.
After retiring Zora and George moved to Farmington. Zora was an accomplished painter, wood carver, seamstress and excelled in Computer Science.
She attended Fort Lewis College majoring in education. She enjoyed spending time with her family and inparticular her five grandchildren.
Zora was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Pearl Barrow; brothers, Lester, Larry Aldene and sister, Paola.
She is survived by George, Curtis (Marya) Johnston, Debi (Philip) Craig; grandchildren, Brandon, Travis and Curtis Craig, MacKenzie and Kea Johnston and great-grandchild, Maddax Craig.
Amemorial service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. Lee Fiske will officiate.
Friends and family are invited to contribute to the National Alzhiemer's Foundation in memory of Zora.
Zora's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington, 505-327-5142.
