Kelsey Alan Sylvester, 37, of Nageezi, passed from this life Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. He was born Jan. 20, 1976, in Cuba, to Dorrie Sylvester and Keith Allen Sylvester Sr. He was born to Keha'atinii (Foot Trails People) and born for Tsenahabilnii (Sleepy Rock People).
Kelsey was preceded in death by his father, Keith Allen Sylvester Sr.; paternal grandmother, Jessie Sylvester; uncles, Charles Sylvester Jr., Dean Sylvester and Donald Sylvester; maternal great-grandmother, Mae Haceesa; and numerous uncles.
He is survived by his parents, Dorrie Sylvester and Ricky Beyale, and his children, Lakiva, Shiknolah, Kevin, Kelsey Alex and Caleb Sylvester. He has three sisters, Kara, Katrina and Deallaz. He has three brothers, Keith Allen Junior, Keenan and Kensley; his maternal grandparents, Ted and Mabel Werito; and his paternal grandfather, Charles Sylvester Sr.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear close friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Nageezi Church of God in Nageezi. Interment will follow in the Lybrook Cemetery.
Reception will follow at the Nageezi Chapter House.
