Leopoldo "Leo" Maestas, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Leo was born March 9, 1941, the son of Alfredo and Julianita Maestas. He was a devoted father, grandfather and brother, and nothing meant more than his family. He was lovingly referred to as "G-Pa" by his grandchildren. He was very proud to be an Army veteran. He was a very honest and sweet man to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Ralph and Chris Maestas; sisters, Georgia Lybrook and Rosie Cordova; and grandson Joseph Gallegos.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jodelle Willoughby and husband Tracy, and Tamara Maestas; five grandchildren, Jazmine and Tyler, Noah, Isaiah and Trinity; sisters, Bertha Leeson, Ramona Valdez, Angelina Garcia and Alvina Candelaria; and many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, and a funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Church 5712 Paradise Blvd., Albuquerque NM 87114. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
