Wilfred Jacquez beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to sleep peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, with his loved ones by his side.
He was born Jan. 28, 1931, to Fermin and Eugenia Jacquez in Gallina.
Wilfred proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1955, Wilfred married his wife of 60 years, Lucy. Together, the couple had five children, Cecilia Hansen, Gabe (Genevieve ""Pinky"") Jacquez, Leonard Jacquez, Gina (Roy) Martinez and Maxine (Danny) Chapman. Wilfred retired in 1995 from Aztec Schools, where he was employed for 38 years. Wilfred's favorite hobby was playing guitar. Anytime you visited Wilfred, you were assured the enjoyment of hearing him play.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Eugenia Jacquez; his sister, Rebecca Trujillo; and his daughter, Gina Martinez.
Wilfred is survived by his wife, Lucy Jacquez; his sons, Gabe (Genevieve ""Pinky"") Jacquez and Leonard Jacquez; daughters, Cecilia Hansen and Maxine (Danny) Chapman; his brothers, Abe (Katie) Jacquez, Joe (Liz) Jacquez, Bob (Connie) Jacquez, Zeb Jacquez and Gilbert (Patty) Jacquez; his sisters, Cordy Gammon and Helen Trujillo, and nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Alternative Choice Funeral Chapel in Farmington, with a dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. at Aztec Civic/Senior Center, 101 S. Park Ave. in Aztec.
