Carlton B. Garrett, 87, of Virginia Beach passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Weeksville, the son of the late Linwood and Laurine Bray Garrett. He served in the US Navy
during WW II and the Korean War
. Carlton was a founding member of Carrow Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 66 years, Norma S. Garrett; two children, Larry Garrett and his wife, Cheryl, and Cynthia G. Sullivan and her husband, David; two grandsons, Brian Sullivan and his wife, Kristal, and Michael Sullivan and his wife, Kelly; one great-grandson, Robert Porter Sullivan. Carlton is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Christopher and Stephen Garrett.
A funeral service will be celebrated today at 2 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. Pastor Doug Plumlee will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park.
