Richard A. "Rick" McClintock, 67, of 1813 Vine Street, Elizabeth City, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Nancy Jones McClintock and was the husband of Linda Fearing McClintock. Dr. McClintock graduated from Germantown Academy. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Princeton University
and his PhD from Columbia University. He was a clinical psychologist and co-founded the Albemarle Counseling Group. Dr. McClintock was a veteran of the United States Army
and was a member of Camden United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and cooking.
In addition to his wife, Dr. McClintock is survived by a daughter, Stacy K. McClintock and fiancé, Steve Ansama, of Newport News, Va.; a step-son, Evan McMullen and wife, Amanda, of Wiliston, N.D.; a brother, Peter McClintock and significant other, Vicki Robinson, of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Win Short and wife, Jane, of Norfolk, Va. and Owen Darnall of Richmond, Va.; a sister-in-law, Anna Joyce McPherson and husband, John, of Elizabeth City; four nieces; and six great-nieces. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Andrea E. Short.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Camden United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Moehring officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Camden United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 188 Highway 343 South, Camden, NC 27921.
