Albert Eugene Pettyjohn, 66, of 217 Sample Dr., Elizabeth City, died at Albemarle Hospital, Aug. 27, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Grace and Truth Community Church, Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Keith Smith officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held at the funeral home, Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pettyjohn was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to repair cars and had a passion for racing cars at the track and attending race car shows. He retired from Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington D.C., where he retired after 29 years of service. Mr. Pettyjohn was the son of the late Lorenzo Ross. He is survived by his mother, Sanna Razemore of Dover, Del.; his wife, Linda Pettyjohn; his mother-in-law, Mamie Mitchell of Elizabeth City; one daughter, Tonya Wiley Cornish; one son, Brandon Pettyjohn; one sister, Gwendolyn Bazemore-Newton (St. Clair) of Dover, Del.; a special sister-in-law, Deborah Ross of Delaware; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Williams (Roland), Lula Gramby (John), Joyce Brown (James) and Janice Eason (Linwood); brothers-in-law, Morris Mitchell and Percy Mitchell Jr.; one niece, Demetria Anderson (Henry) of Blue Bell. Pa.; one aunt, Blanche Gaddis of Milford, Del.; two grandchildren, London Cornish and Jordon Pettyjohn; two special cousins, Elois Blackston and Saundra Pettyjohn Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
