Mrs. Annie E. Mercer "Liza", 79, of 1571 Millpond Rd., Elizabeth City, died at Albemarle Hospital, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at 9:50 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Elizabeth City State University Fine Arts Auditorium, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Beverly Mercer and Elder Climmic Mercer. Burial will be in the Williams-Griffin-Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family and friends will line up at Mr. and Mrs. Connie Mercer, 204 Linwood Drive. Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mercer was a loving mother. She loved the Lord dearly with all her heart, loved testimony services, rest home missionary, loved to cook and see everyone happy, loved her Pastor's, had a willing heart to do whatever she could for any church. She was a member of Great Anointed Minister and New Paul Temple Church. She was a lifetime, who walked, talked and lived the life she talked about. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Williams; her mother, Christine "Teenie" Robinson; her husband, Carnard "Connie" Mercer; daughter, Delores Walston; and brothers, Benjamin Robinson, Emerson Griffin, Clyde Griffin, Trotman Griffin and Coleman Robinson. Survivors include three daughters, Annie Armstrong (George) of Elizabeth City, Cynthia Tirado (Roland) District Heights, Md. and Alice Mercer of Elizabeth City; five sons, Chabra (Rev. Beverly), Connie (Frances), Clinton (Beverly), Warren (Marie), all of Elizabeth City, Climmic (Nelgrn) Mercer of Charlotte; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
