Carlton Earl Joyner, 53, of 608 S. Martin St., Elizabeth City, died June 13, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Elizabeth City, on Friday at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Old Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Stallings Funeral Home of Elizabeth City is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Joyner was a jack-of-all trades and a special friend. He was the son of the late William Edward Joyner Sr. and the late Ethelene Harris Joyner. He is survived by four sisters, Shirley Lee Joyner, (Mike) of Chesapeake, Va., Ethelene Overton (George C. Overton Jr.) of Greensboro, Mary Anne Joyner (Joseph) of Elizabeth City and Joyce Ann Joyner (Rodney) of Greensboro; one brother, William Edward Joyner Jr. of Rocky Mount; step-father, Robert Moore of Elizabeth City; a very special cousin, Jacklyn Harris; special aunts, Linda Ann Harris of Elizabeth City, Pearline Welch of Portsmouth, Va., Mary Anthony of Newport News, Va. and Lillie Mae Joyner of Halifax; uncle, Abbott Joyner of Halifax; and a host of nieces and nephews.
