Clarence Rountree Obituary


Elizabeth City resident

Clarence Rountree, 82, of 956 Selby Road, Elizabeth City, died on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Guardian Care Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mr. Rountree will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Holy Trinity Community Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor J. Leach officiating and delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in New Oak Grove Cemetery. Viewing will take place at the funeral home, today from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family will receive friends at the residence of the deceased. Mr. Rountree leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Willie B. Rountree; a step-daughter, Katrena Reid of Elizabeth City; two sons, Patrick Rountree of New York and Rick Rountree of California; one brother, Cecil Rountree of South Dakota; one granddaughter, Billye Jo Reid; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Mae Franklin; and one brother, Linwood Rountree. Walson Funeral Home, 723 Parsonage Street, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements.

To The Clarence Roundtree Family:
As I think back on those days when Clarence played for tne Union Chapel Baptist Church Male Chorus. we spent many Sunday afternoons singing at area churches. His easy going style helped those practices and singing events go smoothly. May God continue to bless each of you during these sadden times.
