  Irene Elizabeth Parrish Boyce, 89, of 418 Sandy Ridge Road, Edenton, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011, in Chowan Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Chowan County on Jan. 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Herman Linwood Parrish and Frances McClenney Parrish. She lifted up hearts with her smile and laughter and touched people's lives as she prepared lunches at Chowan High School. She also worked at Don Juan Shirt Factory as a presser/folder for more than 20 years. Mrs. Boyce was a member of the Center Hill Baptist Church.   She was married to the late Ray E. Boyce and is survived by her five daughters, Marian Morris and husband, Mike, of Chesapeake, Va., Patricia Waff and husband, Al, of Edenton, Mary Holloman and husband, Bill, of Norfolk, Va., Carrie Byrd and husband, Mitchell, of Edenton and Gloria Brickhouse, also of Edenton; ten grandchildren, Mike and Joy Morris, Randy and Lisa Morris, Brian Waff, Scot and Anna Waff, Nicole Waff, Charles and Suzanne Nixon, Steven and Stephanie Pierce-Byrd, Jessica and Bryant Woodley, Keith and Lisa Brickhouse, and Victoria Brickhouse; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl (Teenie) Brown of Colerain; and a brother, Alvin Russell of Windsor.  Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, William, and Horace Russell; and two sisters, Hilda Russell and Louise Cowand.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Beaver Hill Cemetery with Rev. Don English officiating. Friends may join the family at the home of Patricia and Al Waff, 124 Emperor Landing Road, Edenton. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in her memory to the Chowan Hospital Foundation, PO Box 629, Edenton, NC 27932.
