Mr. Lindwood Walston, 62, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, 901 Halstead Blvd., Elizabeth City. The son of the late Clelie Spence Walston and Octavious Walston, he was born in Manhattan, N.Y. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a member of New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Shiloh, N.C. His last place of employment was as a security guard for Southgate Mall in Elizabeth City, N.C. A funeral service for Mr. Walston will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. in New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Shiloh, N.C. by the Rev. William T. Davis. Interment with military honors will follow in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Chapel of A.C. Robinson & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 1100 Southern Ave., Elizabeth City, N.C. The family will receive friends at the home of his wife, Mrs. Digna Walston of 137 Smith Corner Road, Camden, N.C. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Digna Lynn Walston of Camden, N.C.; his father; Octavius Walston of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five sons, Lindwood Walston, Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Elijah Walston, Shaquille Joyner and Marcus Joyner of Camden, N.C., and Leroy Brown of Elizabeth City, N.C.; one sister; Sharon Walston of Manhattan, N.Y.; four brothers, Kenneth Walston (Dianne) of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kevin Walston of upstate New York, Carlton Walston of Baltimore, Md., and Artie Walston of Manhattan, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a brother Vaughn Walston. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Online condolences for the Walston family may be made at A.C.
