Louise Thatch Harrell, of 320 Evans-Bass Road, Edenton, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Chowan Hospital Skilled Unit in Edenton.
She was born in Perquimans County, Jan. 18, 1920, a daughter of the late Essie Lane and Benjamin Thatch. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Harrell was married to the late Cecil Harrell and was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church where she had been in the Bertha Dale Circle, the Adult Bible study, the Rocky Hock quilters and the Senior Adult choir. She was also a past member of the Gum Pond Home Extension Club.
Surviving Mrs. Harrell are two daughters, Mary Louise Phelps and her husband, Gerry, and Connie Harrell, both of Edenton; three sons, Ray Harrell and his wife, Diane, of Fla., Larry Harrell and his wife, Aundra, and Ronnie Harrell and his wife, Lynda, all of Edenton; a sister, Martha Lamb and her husband, Elisha, of Hertford; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Jamie Thatch; and a grandson, Jason Harrell.
A Celebration of Mrs. Harrell's life will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Rocky Hock Baptist Church, with Rev. James Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery on Evans-Bass Road. Friends may join the family at 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at the funeral home chapel and other times at the residence.
