Mary Louise Overton Morris, 66, of 1982 Nixonton Rd., Elizabeth City, died on Saturday, March 30, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs. Morris was born in Pasquotank County, to the late Herbert and Louise Overton. She was a member of Whiteville Grove A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a former employee of Albemarle Hospital and also worked at Weeksville School cafeteria. Surviving are her husband, Johnnie Morris; three daughters, Leslie Cole (Ralph) Regina Seymore (Rudolph) of Camden, Jonquetta Felton (Quan) of Elizabeth City; four grandchildren, Kierra, Kailyn Seymore, Danielle, Markell Cole; five sisters, Sarah Overton (Edward), Vineland, N.J., Gloria Sylvester (Robert) Beulah Lumsden (Connie), Shawna Overton (William), all of Elizabeth City, Carolyn Harmon (Issac) Wilmington, Del.; three brothers, retired Herbert Overton, (Katie) Murietta, Calif., Curtis Overton, (Juanita), Chesapeake, Va., Willie J. Overton (Gussie), Vineland, N.J.; sister-in-law, Brenda Overton; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins and a very special friend, Debbie Dinsmore. Funeral services for Mrs. Morris will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Union Chapel Church, 1166 Ball Road, Weeksville. Burial will be in New Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. William Bonner as Minister. Visitation will be held at Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
