Merle J. Fahnestock

CAMDEN - Merle J. Fahnestock, age 91, of Sleepy Hollow Road, Camden, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. Born in Chambersburg, PA on November 30, 1927 to the late Merle and Helen Gutshall Fahnestock, he was the husband of Beatrice Stewart Fahnestock. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Card during World War II. He was a retired manager of a propane gas business and a member of Sawyer's Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda Cannaday (Robert) of FL, Brenda Everett (William) of VA, and Esther Hart (Michael) of GA; two step daughters, Jennifer King (John) of TX and Lisa Hans of AZ; two step sons, Kevin Crocker of AZ and Robert Crocker (Roxanne) of NC; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella Ann Fahnestock.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kevin Buzzard officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial at Sawyer's Creek Baptist Church, 241 Sawyer's Creek Road, Camden, NC 27921. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
