Percy Edison Bass, 92, of 1634 Rocky Hock Landing Road, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation. Mr. Bass was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Quinton Trotman and Bessie Virginia Pierce Bass. A retired farmer and commercial fisherman, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth and Elsie Bass, Edith White, Dorothy Chappell, and Hattie Ruth Owens; by brothers, Warner, Graham, and Marcus Bass; and by infant brother and an infant daughter. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth Riddick Bass; two sons, Don Bass and wife, Joyce, and Bradley Bass and wife, Wendy, all of Edenton; and four grandchildren, Kim, Samantha, Joshua, and Isaac Bass. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in the family cemetery near the church. Friends may join the family today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
