Shandreka Trishell Griffin, 32, of 1434 Soundneck Rd., Elizabeth City, died at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital, Sept. 27, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City (Newland), Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. D.E. Butts as Eulogist and Dr. Michael Barcliff as Pastor. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements.
She was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, attended the Elizabeth City Public Schools and was a 1999 graduate of Northeastern High School. She then furthered her education at ECSU where she received a bachelor of science degree in psychology in December 2003. She was employed at Atlantic Home Care Agency for many years.
Ms. Griffin was the daughter of the late Alfreda B. Griffin.
Survivors include her father, Herbert G. Griffin Jr.; brothers, Herbert Rahssan Griffin; one niece, Rahnae T. Griffin; a step-son, Dominique Reid; grandfather, Herbert G. Griffin Sr.; step-sister, Natari Sherese Griffin of Edenton; four aunts, Carolyn G. Johnson (Junious), Roxanna G. Gibbs of Elizabeth City and Cheryl and Valerie Brite of Virginia Beach, Va.; one uncle, Clinton L. Williams Sr. (Yvonne); one great uncle, John L. Armstrong of Elizabeth City; a God daughter, Jamya White-Billups; a God sister, Brittay McCoy of Baltimore; best friend and cousin, Toby A. Gibson of Woodbridge, Va.; a host of great-aunts and uncles and many cousins and friends. Besides her mother she is also preceded in death by two grandmothers, Doris Wilson Barnard and Annie William Griffin; grandfather, Isaac Barnard; and one uncle, Timothy Lee Griffin.
