Thomas Lee Spruill, 80, of 407 Roanoke Avenue, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church with the Rev. Tony Rice officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Stallings Funeral Home of Elizabeth City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Spruill worked for Foreman Sawmill for quite some time. Later, he worked for Ferri Mackey, where he retired. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He liked wrestling and sports.
He was the son of the late Lettle Spruill and the late Marie Johnson Spruill.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Diane Spruill; daughters, Cynthia Fletcher of Durham and Nancy Brickhouse of Hertford; sons, Montreal Brite of Fayetteville, Barnett Brite and Tracey Brite of Elizabeth City and Timothy Fletcher of Boston, Mass.; brothers-in-law, Richard Glasper (Beverly) and Kevin Glasper, both of Elizabeth City, Jeffrey Glasper (Ushi) of Germany and Jerry Glasper of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Mary Glasper of Elizabeth City; sisters-in-law, Patricia Griffin (Carlton) Quinton, Gwendolyn Glasper and Catherine Gibson of Elizabeth City; nieces, Hope, Connie Jenanette (Chester), Fabra Eley (Dwight) and Bonnie Young (Westly); nephews, John Long (Vicky) and Edward Cowell (Annette); 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mattie Gaskin; and brothers, James Spruill Sr. and Wilbert Spruill.
