William Henry Leigh Jr., 73, of 103 Blue Bird Dr., Elizabeth City, died September 1, 2013 at Kindred Transitional Care, Elizabeth City.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Saturday at 2 p.m. with Elder James Butts, Suffolk, Va. officiating. Burial will be in Old Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Leigh was a loving husband and father. He was a great person who loved his family and relatives. Mr. Leigh was a community activist and a lifetime member of NAACP.
Mr. Leigh was the son of the late William Henry Leigh Sr. and the late Lillian Whitehurst Leigh.
He is survived by his wife, Alfreda Barcliff Leigh; five daughters, Kim Padgett (Moses) of Elizabeth City, Tanya Thompson of Portsmouth, Va., Lydia Thompson of Portsmouth, Va., Rachel Leigh of Auburn, N.Y. and Rebekah Leigh of Elizabeth City; two sons, David Leigh of Auburn, N.Y. and William Leigh of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Doris L. Baker of Elizabeth City and Catherine L. Banks of Oxon Hill, Md.; eleven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; best friend, Mary Basnight and Anthony Lambert; and a host family and friends.
