William Riley Beasley Jr., 84, of Grandy, passed away at the Wilson Medical Center in Wilson on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. A native of Currituck County, he was the son of the late William Riley Beasley Sr. and the late Julia Ross Beasley. Mr. Beasley worked for many years in the Quality Control field at Ford Motor Co. and served 38 years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Bill will be remembered as a skilled craftsman who was known for boat building and woodworking. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judy Gardner Beasley.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, William Charles Beasley of Chesapeake, Va. and Gregory Clay Beasley and wife, Kimberly, of Reidsville; his two daughters, Caperice Beasley Dennis of Hendersonville and Teresa Brooks-Mrha of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; and his good friends, Gary and Pat Austin of Grandy.
Also left to cherish his memory are his four grandchildren, Alexander Mrha, Jennifer Mrha, Hannah Beasley, and William Riley "Billy" Beasley.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Beasley will be cremated and his remains will be buried in the Hampton Cemetery in Coinjock, at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education in Mr. Beasley's honor located at Currituck Heritage Park, 1160 Village Lane, Corolla, NC 27927.
