Russell "Rusty" Ray Jackson, 58, of 1710 Lexington Drive, Elizabeth City, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2014, following an adult/youth basketball game at church. Born in Pasquotank County, he was the son of the late John Keaton Jackson and Elizabeth Ives Jackson and the husband of Sharon Edenfield Jackson of the residence.
Rusty was a warehouse supervisor for NORANDEX, and a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He will be remembered for his abundant appreciation for family and friends, his willingness to lend a hand to others, and his easy laughter. He made the case that the good life centers on being a really good guy.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amber Rae Jackson of Elizabeth City; a sister, Cynthia Jackson Simpson of Kill Devil Hills; three brothers, John Keaton Jackson Jr., of South Korea, George Stevens Jackson and wife, Blair, of Elizabeth City and Andrew S. Jackson of Elizabeth City. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Betsy Ives Wright; a brother, William Albert Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Jean Bray Jackson.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints with Bishop Jeff Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the
