Richard Linwood Whitehurst Sr.

ELIZABETH CITY - Richard Linwood Whitehurst Sr., 56, of 168 Lovers Lane, Elizabeth City, died on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Norfolk Sentara Heart Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Darren Whitehurst as Eulogist and the Rev. Joseph Turner Sr. as Pastor. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends in the lobby of the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 815 Greenleaf St. Stallings Funeral Home of Elizabeth City is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Whitehurst joined Memorial Baptist Church at an early age. He played softball with the Lovers Lane Team. He loved working on cars and dancing and got joy out of helping people. He put other people before himself.

He was the son of Clarence E. Whitehurst (Earline) and the late Carrie Whitehurst and the husband of Tammy Whitehurst.

Survivors include two daughters, Jasmine Whitehurst (Sha'Quitta) and Dannette Bowe; three sons, Clarence Whitehurst (Sheron), Richard Whitehurst (Chandrea) and Antwan Bowe; sister, Linda Whitehurst (Daniel); four brothers, Robert Whitehurst, Duston Brooks (Michelle), Troy Brooks (Yolanda) and Linc Brooks (April); 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
