Marie Dirksen age 89 formerly of Osgood died 8:19 a.m. Oct. 19, 2012 at Dorothy Love Retirement Community.
She was born Jan. 8, 1923 in Yorkshire, Ohio to the late Walter and Anna (Martino) Lorton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters, Felix Lorton, Mary Heistand, Betty Westgerdes, Wilfred Lorton, Arnold Lorton, Luella Kessler.
She married Joseph J. Dirksen on June 26, 1943 in Osgood, Ohio. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1996.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, St. Barbara's Ladies Sodality, former sacristan at St. Nicholas, and Knights of St. John Auxilary, Maria Stein. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed needlework and making peach pie and apple dumplings. She was employed at Goodyear and was a homemaker.
She is survived by children Donna and Thomas Dirksen, Sidney, David and Deb Dirksen, Bradford, Bernard and DeeDee Dirksen, Lima, Anne Hamilton, New Bremen; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Pleiman, Craig Pleiman, Amy Pleiman, Lynn Jasper, Derek Dirksen, Jessica Dirksen, Shawn Dirksen, Matthew Hamilton, Megan Hamilton and Marcus Hamilton; 15 great grandchildren; brother Bernard and Doris Lorton, Hot Springs, Ark. and her special friend from Dorothy Love, Inez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, with Rev. David Zink celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood. The family would like to thank Dorothy Love for all their kindness and would like donations to go to the Dorothy Love Activity Fund. Condolences may be made at www.hogenkampfh.com.
