Betty Joan Westfall

UNION CITY, Ind. - Betty Joan Westfall, 82, of Union City, Ind., died early morning Dec. 28, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital of Dayton.

She was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of Roll C. and Nellie E. (Auker) Parks. She was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School in Union City, Ohio.

Betty retired in 1963 after 11 years with Westinghouse of Union City. She had also worked part-time 15 years in the cafeteria of Randolph Eastern School. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Union City, Ohio; the Elks Lodge #1534; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2790.

She leaves to cherish her memory a special niece, Bonnie Mayfield; a special friend, Mary Pratt; a brother-in-law, Harold "Gene" Westfall; three sisters-in-law, Judy Abel, Marge Bloomer and LuEmma Hunt; several other nieces and nephews, Linda Black, Kay Robinson, Jeanne Miller, Jane Roberts, Robin Parks, Beverly Stewart, Gary Yoder and Larry Yoder.]

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Robert N. Westfall; three brothers, Harold, Dale and Duane Parks; and two sisters, Mildred Whitesell and Doris F. Yoder.

A service to celebrate Joan's life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fraze-Brooks Memorial Chapel of Union City, Ind., with Pastor Eric Swenson officiating. Burial will follow in Union City Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 12 noon to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
