VERSAILLES - Charles "Charlie" Wayne Curtis, age 85, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away March 3, 2014, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
He was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Darke County, Ohio, a son of the late Glen and Eva Elizabeth Curtis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Alanzo Charles, Anthony Wayne and Angel LoAnn Curtis; four brothers and sisters, Treva Klipstine, Opal Koon, Herbert Gene Curtis and Shirley Curtis; and one grandson, Adam Joseph Rindler.
Charlie is a lifetime member of the Versailles VFW, the Covington AMVETS, and a member of the Greenville American Legion and a member of the Emmaus New Testament Church.
He is survived by his wife, Violet "Duck" Curtis of Versailles, Ohio; three children, Glen R. Curtis of Greenville, Ohio, Trenda (Kenneth Brown) Curtis of Woodington, Ohio, and LaDasia (Joe) Rindler of Versailles, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chad W. Curtis, NaRyan "Bo" Curtis, Tyler Rindler, Taylor Rindler, Isaiah Curtis and Eva Elizabeth Curtis and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Arthur (Evelyn) Curtis of Versailles, Ohio, Roger (Pat) Curtis of Greenville, Ohio and Robert Curtis of Ansonia, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Emmaus New Testament Church, 7511 Palestine Union City Road, Greenville, Ohio 45331. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
