Emerson Leo Barga

WINCHESTER, Ind. - Emerson Leo Barga, age 90, of Winchester, Ind., passed away on April 7, 2013, at The Waters of New Castle, Ind.

He was born on Oct. 21, 1922, in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Cyril L. and Mary E. (Groff) Barga.

Emerson was a farmer and had worked as a welder for the Union City, Ind., Body Co. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War Two. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and friends and working on old cars. He restored a 1929 Model A Ford and 1930 and 1931 Chevrolet.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Edwards) Barga, they were married for 67 years. Two sons Michael wife Beth Barga , and Steven wife Jacqueline Barga. Three daughters Jennifer Fouse husband Kevin, Paula Green husband Walter and Melinda Skinner. One sister Patricia EcEldowney, Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Lou Hall and three brothers Jake Barga, Reed Barga and Ray Barga.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winchester with Father Michael McKinley officiating. Burial will be in the Fountain Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thayer Funeral Home, Winchester.Memorials may be given to the church.
