Franklin E. "Junior" Adkins Jr.

GREENVILLE - Franklin E. "Junior" Adkins Jr., 68, of Greenville, passed away early morning Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 4, 1944, in Twila, Ky., son of the late Franklin E. Sr. and Voulena (Simpson) Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Jay Campbell.

Junior worked most of his life as a roofer working under Roofer's Local #75 as well as the family business.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Bunch) Adkins, whom he married, Dec. 4, 1970; his children, Darren (Christina) Hanes, Kathy (Curt) Kitchen, Tracey (Dean) Richardson, Amy (Jarrod) Boehringer, and Tina (Ty) Walton; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tom (Deloris) Adkins of Arcanum, Gerald (Toni) Adkins of Somerset, Ky., Priscilla Daniels of Greenville, Paulette (Jim) Stump of Troy, and Darlene Stamps of Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Hershel Fee officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery near Greenville.
