Raymond E. Freshour(1919-2012)

Raymond E. Freshour, 93, of Greenville, passed away Oct. 1, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville Ohio.

He was born Aug. 6, 1919 in New Cumberland, W. Va., son of the late Roy Minor and Arizona Belle (Tingler) Freshour.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stacey Freshour.

Raymond was a self-employed carpenter, a sergeant for the Butler County Sheriff Department. He was a member of the first Mounted Patrol for Butler County. Raymond was chief of police for Monroe, where he developed their first K-9 unit. He also work as a maintenance manager at Pirate Land in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was a good dad and grandpa. He loved to do woodworking, traveling and walking on the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ella Mae (Robb) Freshour; his children, Joyce (Carl) Jones, Bonnie (Reese) Williams, Faith (Dennis) Miller, Roy (Debbie) Freshour, Amy (Phillip) Wollebeck; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Sroufe.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oliver-Floyd funeral home with the Rev. Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery.

The family receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The family requests memorial contributions be given to the State of the Heart Hospice and Brethren Retirement Community.
