GREENVILLE - Ruby Esther (Hangen) Black, 95, of Greenville, formerly of Arcanum, went home to be with her Lord on Jan. 7, 2014.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1918, the daughter of the late Harvey and Lula (Briney) Hangen. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Francis Hubert Black, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bob Hangen and Don and Naomi (Brown) Hangen and a brother-in-law, Ora Hickman.

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Marilyn Robinson of Greenville; and a son, Jim and Becky (Heckert) Black of Arcanum. Ruby is survived by two grandsons, Douglas and Rhonda (Smith) Robinson of Arcanum and Kevin Robinson of Vandalia, two great-grandchildren Rusty Chrisman and fiancée, Brook Filby, and Mattie Chrisman. Also surviving is her sister, Kathryan Hangen Hickman of Greenville, a brother, Nolan and his wife Ellen (Baker) Hangen of Arcanum, and sister-in-law, Jean Swank Hangen of Greenville, many nieces and nephews, and special care takers, Dessie Green and Tracie Miller.

She was a member of Gordon United Methodist Church being very active in the church over time. She was also a Girl Scout assistant leader for many years. Being a Past Matron of Ft. Black chapter of Eastern Star, she held many offices and enjoyed being a member. Ruby retired from Duriron after also working at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Stillwater Hospital, and assisting her husband in the custom drapery business.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Gordon United Methodist Church with Rev John Gilmore officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour before the time of services. Eastern Star services will be held following the viewing. Burial will follow in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
