VERSAILLES - Vaughn G. Wakefield age 66, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 5:55 a.m. March 13, 2014, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

Vaughn was born Feb.27, 1948, in Centralia, Wash., to the late James A. and Thelma (Orloske) Wakefield.

Vaughn is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rita M. (Brackman) Wakefield, whom he married Feb. 8, 1969; daughter and son-in-law, Sundra and Jerry Bey III of Versailles, Ohio; grandchildren, Shelby Bey, Brett Bey, Bo Bey and Cael Bey; brothers and sisters-in-law and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lonny "Jim" and Suzanne Wakefield of Brinkhaven, Ohio, Cheryl and Jim Williams of Dallas, Ore., John Wakefield of Centralia, Wash., Lynn and Bo Wakefield-Rickard of Centralia, Wash., and Greg and Cathy Wakefield of Atwater, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Vaughn is also preceded in death by a son, Daniel G. Wakefield; daughter, Melissa M. "Missy" Wakefield; and a sister, Karen LeDuc.

Vaughn owned and operated a poultry business. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles; Versailles Vet's Club and Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Monday morning from 9 to 10 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences for the family may be expressed through
