Victoria Agnes Rhoades

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.  - Victoria Agnes Rhoades was born to Bernard and Lucy Unterbrink on July 9, 1922. Victoria passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 28, 2013.

She was born and raised in Ohio. She was one of 11 children: Louis, Victoria, Donald, Linus, Walter, Ruth, Alphonse, Bernadette, Julianne, Carol and Ralph.

On April 3, 1945, Victoria married Franklin Guthrie Rhoades. Together, they traveled throughout the United States and Germany supporting Franklin's position as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Victoria's greatest accomplishment was creating a beautiful family of five children: Candis Wall of Grand Junction, Colo., Kenneth Rhoades (deceased), Kathleen Coon of Damascus, Ore., Debra Hawkins of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ronald Rhoades of Vancouver, Wash. At the time of her death, Victoria was the proud of grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Victoria has spent her later years in Grand Junction, Colo., near her daughter, Candis, and her family, with many visits from family and friends.

Victoria loved to dance, cook, sew, arrange flowers, decorate cakes and play a good game of cards. She received the highly prized honor of "Yard of the Year" in Grand Junction, Colo.

In celebration of her exceptional life, a viewing will be held at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, Ohio, from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday followed by Victoria's burial at Woodland Cemetery. All are welcome to return to the church for a luncheon provided by St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
