EUGENE HOENING Sr.

NEW WESTON - Eugene F. Hoening Sr., age 82, of New Weston, died March 16, 2014, at his home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1932, in Burkettsville, to the late Paul and Rosa (Hart) Hoening.

On Sept. 29, 1956, he married Margaret (Winders), who survives in New Weston. He is also survived by five children, Eugene Jr. and Sandy Hoening of Burkettsville, Timothy Hoening of Greenville, Linda and Jeff Boerger of Piedmont, S.C., Judith and David Jaworski of St. Louis, Mo., and Tom and Tonya Hoening of Versailles, 11 grandchildren, three sisters, Ruby and George Monnier of Houston, Madonna McCarthy of New Carlisle and Joan Helton of West Milton, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hoening of West Milton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Hoening.

He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, and its Holy Name Society, and the Cattleman's Association of Ohio. He was a retired military veteran having served in the Marines, Army and Air Force, and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Vietnam War Veterans Association, the North Star American Legion and the Greenville V.F.W.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry. Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
