ARCANUM - Jerry Odell Thacker, age 64 of Arcanum, passed away on Feb. 23, 2014.

He was born in Richmond, Ky. on April 8, 1949 to his parents, Toy Chester and Elizabeth "Betty" (Liford) Thacker, who preceded him in death, along with siblings Imagene Grant and Jewel Fetters, and sister-in-law, Irene Thacker.

Jerry served in the 3rd Battalion 26th Marine Regiment of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in action, earning a Purple Heart. He married his high school sweetheart and raised his family while serving as postmaster in Pitsburg. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, hunting, fishing, playing guitar, tending his abundant garden and hosting BBQs in his orchard.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Thacker (Vincent); daughter Abra (Steve) Cutforth; son, Jesse (Torrissa Trevino) Thacker; brothers, Bill (Sheryl) Thacker and Monroe Thacker; and sister Geraldine (Bob) McCuiston; and many amazing grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held April 5 at 11 a.m., Transfiguration Catholic Church, 972 S Main St., West Milton, Ohio 45383. A gathering/meal will follow at the church. Instead of flowers, the family invites you to bring wildflower seeds to help them create a memorial garden.
